UFO Fridays
UFO Fridays
UFO Fridays is a new teenage/sci-fi themed animated TV show featuring Mary the Alien: high school student outcast from another galaxy — now living on Earth — who happens to be a huge Jefferson Starship fan! Many teenagers and young adults, like Mary, constantly feel awkward or out of place, like an alien. Speaking to that roughly aged 13 through 22 audience, this TV show concept, and corresponding ad campaign, uses imagery of emotionally humanlike, relatable alien characters, all now residing on our planet — created with minimalistic flat colors that would appeal to young adults — establishing an all-embracing place outsiders could belong. The slogan “release your inner alien” is a way of saying it’s okay to be weird or different, and the Sci-fi Channel encourages everyone to be their true selves.
Mary’s undying love for her favorite band is reflected by new Jefferson Starship music, specially hosted live events, and exclusive band merch presented by the Sci-Fi Channel, as a tie-in to the show. The band’s image has received a full Sc-fi makeover, complete with an all-new retro-futuristic band logo.

Meet the Crew!
Mary the Alien: Lovable outcast from outer space and the universe’s biggest Jefferson Starship fan. Although she misses her home planet, she’s slowly learning to love her new home away from home. The fact that Earth comes fully equipped with plenty of caramel mocha coffee and 24 hour diners definitely helps!
Mr. Galaxy: Everybody’s favorite Science teacher, fancy-tweed-suit-wearing academic, and reassuring confidant. When no one seems to understand you, Mr. Galaxy always seems to get just what you mean. Don’t let his deep knowledge of quantum mechanics and impeccable fashion sense fool you. This is one educator who is down to earth when you need him most.
Jaime Space: Devoted bookworm, strategy game enthusiast, and all around unwaveringly loyal friend — the kind of friend everyone wishes they had to help study for that big trigonometry test last week.
Exclusive Music Tie-in
As previously noted, the main character of the show, Mary the Alien, is the number one fan of the band Jefferson Starship. Hanging out in her rock-poster-plastered room, she incessantly dreams of seeing them in concert, watches all their videos, and whether it’s on vinyl or digital streaming services on her phone, she listens to their songs every chance she gets. This component of the show’s plot is expanded upon with real life specially hosted live events, music releases, and promotional merchandise presented by the Sci-Fi Channel, as a tie-in to the show. The band’s image and sound has received a full Sc-fi makeover, complete with an all-new retro-futuristic band logo.
